As the text relates there are many factors that enter into the compensation plans of senior executives – including CEO’s. One section of the chapter directly addresses the question of – are executives paid too much.
Some CEO’s are ostensibly paid based on the financial performance of their organizations.
In other cases there may seem to be little correlation between a company’s financial performance and the compensation paid to the CEO.
The discussion assignment –
Based on your research find two CEO’s in the Fortune 500 that you believe are significantly overpaid based on the financial performance of the company that they manage.
Use the data and explain why you have selected these two examples.
Why do you believe this compensation level is high?
Based on your research what level of compensation would you recommend for these two individuals?
NOTE: Base your conclusions on business and financial reasons. Do not base your opinions, conclusions or recommendations based on “social” issues.
Do not include such things as – there is too large of a pay gap between the lowest paid worker and the CEO, etc.
Also based on your research find two CEO’s in the Fortune 500 that you believe are significantly underpaid based on the financial performance of the company that they manage.
Use the data and explain why you have selected these two examples.
Why do you believe this compensation is low?
Based on your research what level of compensation would you recommend for these two individuals?
Again – base your conclusions and opinions on business and financial reasons and not “social” issues.
Research and list at least three outside sources.
Your submission should be between 300 and 400 words.
