 Digital Footprints

 Students will choose ONE of these four scenarios to complete a paper at least 500 words in length. 

Scenarios: Choose ONLY ONE. 

Scenario 1: According to the textbook, the means by which we communicate is growing and expanding in this digital age. Analyze a digital footprint made by you or someone else, and interpret your findings. Tasks:

 Choose at least one site, such as a page from a blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or other online artifact. 

 Evaluate the message that is conveyed from what you observe from this digital footprint.

  Explain what you interpret about the target audience/users for this site.

  Based on what you find, how can you classify the person’s or organization’s ethical code or value system?

  Predict how the content enhances or degrades the person’s/organization’s credibility. How could the messages communicated on this site be improved? 

 Support your ideas with information from a credible source, such as the textbook. Include the website URL in APA style and appropriate APA style citations.

 Scenario 2: Many people have a deep desire to make a difference in the world around them by sharing their insights, experiences, lessons learned, observations, stories, or inspirations. Guffey and Loewy (2015) provide guidelines to follow to create an effective blog. Imagine creating a blog for business or personal use and consider what you would say to the world. Tasks: 

 Reveal the purpose of your blog, the blog title, topics you would discuss, the target audience, and features it would include to help maintain user interest. 

 Discuss any possible ethical issues that developing such a blog could create and how you would overcome them. 

 Predict what this digital footprint would say about you if someone else was analyzing it. 

 Support your ideas with information from a credible source, such as the textbook. 

 You do not need to create an actual blog for this assignment.

 Scenario 3: If you are against the social media and digital communication movement, this is your opportunity to express your viewpoint on the topic. Tasks: CM 1010, Business Communication 3

  Discuss possible dangers or negative effects that social media or other forms of digital communication (texting, instant messaging, etc.) could have on you personally, in your career, with family members, or on society as a whole.

 How can these forms of communication negatively impact a person’s digital footprint?

  Support your ideas with information from a credible source, such as the textbook.

 Scenario 4: Guffey and Loewy (2015) classify five ethical traps used to justify or rationalize an unethical decision. A few examples of situations that could become ethical dilemmas include reacting to office gossip, taking another’s ideas and presenting them as your own, or even telling a partial truth or withholding information. Tasks: 

 Describe an ethical dilemma (real or hypothetical) and explain what ethical trap(s) a person could use to justify an unethical decision/action. 

 What personal values would you draw from in order to handle the situation ethically? 

 Explain how this situation could negatively impact a person’s or an organization’s digital footprint. 

 Support your ideas with information from a credible source, such as the textbook.

 To complete this assignment, a minimum of one (1) reputable source (such as the course textbook) must be cited and referenced to support the work and outline guidelines on which you are basing your analysis. If analyzing a specific page, include the website as a reference in APA style with appropriate APA style in-text citations. 1.Even though the law does not address the issue of corporations proving accommodation to its employees, I think it’s a crucial factor that should be addressed. Furthermore, there are a lot of concerns about if a corporation is required by law to provide its facilities for Bible study, coupled with risks of possible exposure and voluntarily doing so to concerns about religious discrimination or favoritism. Therefore, honoring requests to use corporative facilities for employee Bible study can be a balancing act that needs coordination and an aerialist’s agility.

Considering Civil Rights Act, under Title VII – Corporations must moderately accommodate employees’ truthfully held religious, moral beliefs or ethical or practices unless doing such would impose an undue hardship on the employer. Extending my interests further, The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) outlines the following guidelines on religious discrimination in the workplace. i.e. employers should not try to curb all religious expression in the workplace whereas Title VII (explained above) requires that employers accommodate employees’ truthfully held religious beliefs or ethical or practices in engaging in religious rights in the workplace to the degree that they can do such without undue difficult on the operation of the business.

In determining whether to allow an employee to pray or engage in any form of religion in the workplace would cause an undue hardship. Corporation will have to consider if their conference room space and policies allow the use of corporation facilities for different types of non-business-related activities or group meetings. Encouraging the use of organization equipment during work hours for other non-business-related activities like Bible study may be a very vital facet of their diversity initiatives and employee relations. Finally, I stand by supporting that corporations should provide accommodation to its employees’ religious practice.

2.According to the Civil Rights Act of the year 1964, employers should be able to accommodate all the employees whose beliefs in religion may not be consistent with some of the rules or duties of their job as long as the accommodation will not result in unbearable difficulty on the working environment (Rosenzweig, 1996). Therefore, as long as the religious beliefs do not cause the workplace to have an unbearable attitude, corporations should provide accommodations for their employees to practice religion.

One of the reasons why corporations should accommodate religious diversities is to create a work environment where employees feel motivated and respected by their bosses. In a work environment where there is no religious tolerance, employees feel out of place and are not self-motivated to work. If the employees are allowed to practice their religious beliefs provided that they do not seriously interfere with normal operations, then they feel motivated and appreciated.

Corporations should accommodate all religious beliefs as a way of showing their compliance with the law requirements. In cases where corporations do not accommodate different religious beliefs, an employee could easily sue the corporation, which can cause it to incur costs for the defense as well ruin the reputation of the corporation. Failure to comply with the law lowers the reputation of a company and could easily repel clients who have their religious beliefs being opposed.

Additionally, accommodating different religious beliefs can help retain some top talent that could have otherwise been lost if they practice the religion that is not accommodated. In a work environment, the most important element in an individual is not their cultural or religious background but the talent and expertise that will increase on a corporation’s productivity

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

1. Describe two (2) financial career options that an individual with a finance education might pursue and explain the value that such a position adds to a company.
2. Explain the essential skills that would make a person successful in each of the described positions.
3. Recommend one (1) of the career options. Identify the most attractive features of the position.
4. Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
   1. Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
   2. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

Explain the concept of judicial review. Give an example of one court case that involved judicial review and how it was used in that case. This should be at least 400 words.

The cognitive interview method tries to mentally reinstate the environmental and personal context of the crime for the victim and the witness. Questions like, “Tell me how you felt that day. What did you hear? What was the weather like?” help the victim and witness to remember. Some interviewers reported that allowing witnesses to talk backward from the recent time to the incident helps to recall details.
