Creating a Diverse Work Team, management homework help

It can become difficult to create a harmonious diverse team considering the differences of all the team members involved. Realizing the potentials and possible downfalls of the multicultural team is just the start. The selection of team members and the assignment of tasks play a huge part in this harmony. The team leader should be prepared to accept the responsibility of leading a diverse team.

With this in mind and after conducting some research, create a 1-2 page human resource strategy for creating a diverse workforce. Be sure to address:

  • The nature of group dynamics
  • Recruitment and selection strategy(ies)
  • Training and development activities
  • How you will ensure fairness in hiring along with fairness in diversifying your workforce

Marketing and Strategy (My chosen company is Starbucks)

Requirements

  • Please stay within the page number limits. The page number limit refers to the body of the paper. Title page, abstract and references do not count towards this. It should be 8-10 pages in length and follow all APA formatting requirements.
  • Use the rubric elements as headers to guide your paper. Papers that require me to hunt and peck for these items will be returned ungraded.
  • Your paper should also include a cover sheet, short abstract, and references formatted per APA.

INCLUDE AN INTRO PARAGRAPH briefly describing your business or idea

Please note that university policy does not allow for previously submitted work to be used unless prior approval is given by the instructor. That being said, a good rule of thumb is to shoot for less than 20% in SafeAssign. You CAN use previous research but provide original language when conveying and applying this in your papers. Higher SafeAssign scores due to identical cover pages and reference pages “do not count” and will be taken into realistic consideration.

My chosen company is Starbucks.

Ethics, Law, and the Judicial System, assignment help

The following has 3 sections about 400 to 600 words each Please read all the directions.

Part 1 – (Ethics, Law, and the Judicial System) 400- 600 words APA

Corporations have a lot of influence over the economy, the community, and people. The traditional view of corporate responsibility is that a corporation has no additional social responsibility beyond making a profit for its shareholders. In more recent years, arguments have arisen with the belief that corporations have a high degree of social responsibility to people affected by the corporation’s decisions.

Case Example: Phishy Pharmaceuticals is a corporation that recently kicked off the sale of its new weight-loss pill, Lose It Fast. After three months of sales, the management team has received some troubling reports of some unanticipated side effects caused by the pill. The management team asks the accounting department to run some numbers to determine how much it would cost to recall Lose It Fast, to suspend manufacturing, and to conduct more tests to determine the pill’s safety and other possible side effects.

After running some numbers, the accounting department states that it would be more cost-effective to leave the product on the market shelves and propose settlement proceedings with anyone who is injured and initiates a lawsuit.

The corporate attorney has advised that the product states on the package that the pill is not FDA approved, and off-the-record has stated that everyone who buys a weight-loss product knows there are some risks involved, so it is likely that the majority of injured consumers will not initiate a lawsuit.

If you recall the product, it will result in a delay of dividends paid to shareholders and a loss in revenue, affecting shareholder profit. Consider the following questions regarding this example:

  • What would you do, and why?
  • Would you leave the product on the shelves because you feel your duty as a corporate manager is to maximize shareholder profits?
  • Would you recall the product because you feel the corporation owes a duty to the public, consumers, and the government in terms of social responsibility?

Part 2 – ( Legal Issues: Contract & Agency Law ) – write a memo of 600–800 words APA

Library Research Assignment

Your supervisor has just met with a potential new client. You and two of your coworkers will be working directly with this client in helping to create and execute contracts. To refresh your skills and memory on contracts, your supervisor has asked you to write a memo of 600–800 words to provide to your coworkers and supervisor that discusses the following information:

  • Identify, define, and discuss the six elements of a contract, providing examples to help further the understanding of each element.
  • Conduct research online or in the library to find a case involving a contract dispute regarding one or more of the elements of a contract, and provide the following:
    • A citation
    • A summary analysis of the case, including information on the specific elements involved in the dispute as well as the outcome of the case
  • Discuss your opinion on the outcome of the case. Do you agree with the court’s decision?
  • Additionally, to help prepare for the Phases 4 and 5 Individual Projects, briefly define (1-2 sentences) a contractual concern related to the business that you would like to start.

Part 3 – (Emerging Trends & Issues) – memo of 600-800 words or 4-5 PowerPoint slides, with speaker notes – APA

The director of your department has requested that you conduct some research on the topic of cyber law or Internet law. He has asked you to draft a memo of 600-800 words or 4-5 PowerPoint slides, with speaker notes that includes the following:

  • Research, identify, and discuss an emerging trend or legal issues involving cyber law or Internet law. Examples could include but are not limited to the following topics:
    • E-contracts
    • E-signatures
    • Cyber torts
    • The use of social networking for advertising
    • Social networking and employee restraints
    • Identify theft
    • Cyberstalking
  • Research, identify, and summarize a specific legal case involving a cyber law issue.
    • The summary should include a good description of the facts of the case and the outcome (court’s ruling) of the case.
  • Provide your opinion on the outcome of the case.
    • Do you agree with the court’s ruling, or do you feel that a different outcome would have been more justified? Why or why not?
  • Include good research and references to discuss the cyber law issue identified, with appropriate APA citations and references.

White Paper on gun control and gun violence, law homework help

Please review guidelines on how the white paper should be constructed. The white paper should address gun control and gun violence. My expectation is that paper meets the standards of the guidelines in order for me to release payment. I understand if you don’t have access to use UMUC Library OneSearch as a source but still requires 5 different source.

Guidelines for White Paper

Strategies to Keep in Mind

• have a focused topic• write to an identified audience

If your white paper will be written to an internal audience, it might have a fairly narrow focus. For example, if you work in a hair salon and write a white paper promoting a new billing system for your salon, the audience will probably be the owner and manager of the hair salon.

If your white paper will be written to an external audience, it could have a broader focus. For example, if you do not work for a hair salon and you write a white paper promoting a new billing system for hair salons, the audience may be the various hair salons in your neighborhood.

If your white paper will be written to promote a product or service to potential customers, it could have an even broader scope. For example, a white paper promoting a new taxi service in your neighborhood has, theoretically, all residents in the neighborhood as a potential audience.

To complete this assignment, be sure to: Integrate thorough research.

Provide adequate information, and leave the decision on which action(s) to take up to the audience. Your goal is to offer background information that the audience can use to make an informed decision. The Purdue OWL video particularly mentions this principle, which is one reason the video refers to the white paper as “a backgrounder report.”

Include the following sections in your White Paper:

• Executive Summary

• Introduction

• Previous Approaches

• New Findings

• Conclusion • References

In the Executive Summary (ES) of your White Paper, summarize your research and your purpose. The ES should be a stand-alone document. It should be written in such a way that a busy executive could read the summary only, and know exactly what the paper is about.

In the Introduction section of your White Paper, lay the groundwork for your readers on the details that will be introduced in the paper. If you need to define any terms, do so there. You might also share an anecdote or illustration to describe why this topic is important and relevant.

In the Previous Approaches section, describe the methods or strategies that have been previously used, or are currently used on the topic.

For example, if your white paper is being written to advertise a new taxi service in your area, you might review what transportation services are provided now. You could show the challenges or problems that the current services involve. In this section of the White Paper, your use of sources will be very important. Integrate research to show that the problems you have identified do, in fact, exist, and that they merit attention.

In the New Findings section, present the most important information in the paper. Describe the findings of your research, and relate those findings to the purpose of your report. Do not only provide data and research, but also explain the data and research, and tell why it is relevant and significant to your report’s topic.

For example, if your white paper is being written to advertise a new taxi service in your area, you might review what transportation services are provided now, and show why the new taxi service fills a need that the current set of transportation services does not fill, or that it solves a problem the current set of transportation services does not solve.

Provide data and evidence for why the new taxi service has promise in solving the problems you have identified. In this section of the paper, your use of sources will be very important as well. Integrate research to show the problems you identified will be solved by your new approach.

In the Conclusion section, review what your research shows in light of the previous approaches used. Do not tell the audience what steps to take next. However, do summarize what your research findings articulate.

In the References section, list the sources you cited in the paper in APA format. Please note that the lectures on white papers you have viewed, and examples of white papers you have read, may not have used APA, but this is the documentation style you will be required to use.

Identify and incorporate at least five (5) sources for your White Paper. At least one of them must have been acquired through UMUC Library OneSearch.

Primary sources will be very beneficial for the paper. For example, if your white paper is being written to advertise a new taxi service in your area, you might interview some local residents about the problems they have with the current transportation services, or conduct a survey. The information you gather could be compelling research to integrate into your White Paper.

  • Length of the White Paper

Your white paper should be 2000-3000 words in length. Again, you are required to use at least five sources, with at least one of them being acquired through UMUC Library OneSearch.

    Graphics

Your white paper should incorporate at least three graphics. Graphic can include tables, charts, graphs, or photographs that show some research findings, or are relevant to the paper topic.

At least two of the graphics must be original. Original graphics can include photos taken by you; tables, charts, or graphs developed by you; or screen captures showing a function on your computer (not a screen capture of an image off of the web).

Single and Multi Factor productivity, accounting homework help

Bob Richards, the production manager of Zychol Chemicals, in Houston, Texas, is preparing his quarterly report, which is to include a productivity analysis for his department. One of the inputs is production data prepared by Sharon Walford, his operations analyst. The report, which she gave him this morning, showed the following:

2008

2009

Production (units)

4,500

6,000

Raw material used (barrels of petroleum by-products)

700

900

Labor hours

22,000

28,000

Capital cost applied to the department ($)

$375,000

$620,000

Bob knew that his labor cost per hour had increased from an average of $13 per hour to an average of $14 per hour, primarily due to a move by management to become more competitive with a new company that had just opened a plant in the area. He also knew that his average cost per barrel of raw material had increased from $320 to $360. He was concerned about the accounting procedures that increased his capital cost from $375,000 to $620,000, but earlier discussions with his boss suggested that there was nothing that could be done about that allocation.

Bob wondered if his productivity had increased at all. He called Sharon into the office and conveyed the above information to her and asked her to prepare this part of the report.

Management’s expectation for departments such as Mr. Richards’s is an annual productivity increase of 5%.

Required:

1. Prepare the productivity part of the report for Mr. Richards. Provide calculations for:

A.  Change year-over-year for each of the factors

B.  Single-factor productivity

C.  Multi-factor productivity

2. End the report by providing Mr. Richards your personal assessment of your findings (Was the annual productivity increase of 5% met? What does the data mean or allude to? What can management expect in future years?)
