Google

History

Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University in 1995. By 1996, they had built a search engine (initially called BackRub) that used links to determine the importance of individual Webpages.

Larry and Sergey named the search engine they built “Google,” a play on the word “googol,” the mathematical term for a 1 followed by 100 zeros. Google Inc. was born in 1998, when Sun co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a check for $100,000 to that entity-which until then didn’t exist.

In 2000, we introduced AdWords, a self-service program for creating online ad campaigns. Today our advertising solutions, which include display, mobile and video ads as well as the simple text ads we introduced more than a decade ago, help thousands of businesses grow and become successful.

On April Fools’ Day in 2004, we launched Gmail. Our approach to email included features like speedy search, huge amounts of storage and threaded messages. Our Initial Public Offering of 19,605,052 shares of Class A common stock took place on Wall Street on August 18, 2004.

We acquired digital mapping company Keyhole in 2004, and launched Google Maps and Google Earth in 2005. Today Maps also features live traffic, transit directions and street-level imagery, and Earth lets you explore the ocean and the moon.

In 2006, we acquired online video sharing site YouTube. Today 60 hours of video are uploaded to the site every minute. Cat videos, citizen journalism, political candidacy and double rainbows have never been the same.

Amidst rumors of a “Gphone,” we announced Android-an open platform for mobile devices-and the Open Handset Alliance, in 2007.

Criminal Justice System, law homework help

Response needed:

  1. Identify and discuss any two issues that your found interesting in the Chapter 84 reading: Prison.

First of all, I found quite a bit more than two issues interesting in chapter 84. This being my first criminal justice class I have never really looked deep into the facts or statistics relating to the criminal justice system. The first issue that stuck out to me the most was a crazy statistic that stated how research shows that while 83% of state prisoners have a history of drug use, only about 15% of this group receives treatment in prison, and even fewer continue to receive appropriate treatment once released (Wood,2009). Most of these inmates report that that was the primary reason for their past and current problems and yet almost none of them are getting or seeking treatment. I am willing to bet most of these crimes they committed had to have been fueled by some type of substance abuse, whether it was a schedule I narcotic or alcohol. The second issue that I wanted to note of interest was the chapter on mass imprisonment and state budgets. To sum it up it talks about the massive amount of prisoners that Mississippi is forced to house in their facilities. Because of this, they had to use most of their state’s budget on building prisons instead of spending it on schools. The astonishing issue that stuck out in my mind was extracted from a recent report by Grassroots Leadership. They go on to say that Mississippi built 17 new prisons between 1997 and 2005, but not one new state college or university. And several more Mississippi prisons are under construction or consideration. There are now almost twice as many African American men in Mississippi prisons as in colleges and universities, and the state spends nearly twice as much to incarcerate an inmate as it takes to send someone to college.  It is very unfortunate that most states have to worry about spending most of their budget on prisons and institutions rather than schools and higher education.

2. Identify and discuss any two issues that you found interesting in the Chapter 71 reading: Capital Punishment.

After reading this chapter the most interesting thing that popped out to me was the five methods of capital punishments approved by the United States. These include lethal injection, electrocution, lethal gas, hanging, and firing squad. Lethal injection being the primary method of execution used by all executing jurisdictions in the United States. I honestly thought that lethal injection and lethal gas were the only approved method for capital punishment. I could understand how electrocution could be debatable seeing as which they have had some cases where the prisoner lived through the electrocution. The second issue that was interesting was the fact that congress got involved to expand the number of crimes punishable by death. In 1994, Congress passed a federal crime bill (the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act), which expanded the number of federal crimes punishable by death to about 50. All but four of the federal crimes involve murder. The four exceptions are treason; espionage; drug trafficking in large quantities; and attempting, authorizing, or advising the killing of any public officer, juror, or witness in a case involving a continuing criminal enterprise—regardless of whether such a killing actually occurs (Bohm, 2009). I am not to familiar with the criminal justice system and all the crimes that can be committed but all but 50 have to do with murder with is surprising. I always assumed murder was just murder. But apparently there are 46 different crimes involving murder.

3. What is offender classification, how does it work and is it reliable? (Chapter 90)

Offender classification is a system that categorizes prisoners into different custody levels based off of what their specific needs are regarding their temperament or personality traits or even gang affiliations. These are categorized based on the security risks involved to see how much security the prisoner would actually need or different types of facilities that are able to house the particular prisoner with specific resources such as psychiatrists or regular doctors. After reading this chapter I would say Ultimately the offender classification works. Because of this system, they are able to appropriately place prisoners in a setting that would be deemed safe. If this system wasn’t in place and no one cared where these prisoners went, there would be a lot more murders in the prison itself along with gang wars. Yes, there are some issues and flaws within the system itself. As it’s stated in the classification protocols paragraph, training conducted in order for someone to administer and score the classification could take up to 2 weeks. But it some cases people will only get 1-2 days of training.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE ORIGINAL WORK AND YOU COPY/PARAPHRASE, PLEASE DO NOT BID ON MY QUESTION AND WASTE MY TIME NOR YOURS AS I WILL WITHDRAW AND I USE TURNITIN WHICH IS NOT LIKE THESE THIRD PARTY PLAGIARISM CHECKERS LIKE HERE ON STUDYPOOL.

For this Discussion, you will conduct initial research for your persuasive proposal.  In order to use anyone else’s ideas, words, or materials, you must cite them properly or it is considered plagiarism. At our University the American Psychological Association (APA) format and style is used for papers. There are two forms of citation. For citing anyone else’s ideas and content, you must use in-text citations. This means that in the sentence where their ideas appear whether paraphrased or quoted, you must provide their last name and the year of publication (if paraphrased and add the page number if quoting). Then you must also cite the reference at the end of the paper on the references page. So for every in-text citation, whether putting their ideas into your own words or quoting them (by putting quotation marks around their exact words), you must also provide the reference for the work (the book, paper, journal) in which these words are found.

Throughout your degree program, your professors will be submitting your papers to Turnitin.com™ to assure them that the paper is original so it is important that you cite someone else’s work and otherwise make your submissions original.

Step 1: Locate two viable and post the APA formatted citation and accompanying reference for the source, a summary of the sources’ content, and your plans for integrating the source into your final proposal. Your summary and plans should be approximately 200 words for each source.

Trust Agreement Draft, law homework help

Arturo and Alyssa Abernacky come to your office in Trenton, New Jersey, for estate planning. The facts relevant to their family are as follows:

Arturo is 67 years old and Alyssa is 66.

The couple have two children: Brenda and Bob. Both children are in their 30s and have spouses and children of their own.

Bobby’s second child, Kayla, is 7 years old and suffers from severe mental disorders that prevent her from interacting appropriately with children her age. She is currently attending a private school for disabled children and is being treated for her disorders. It is hoped that she will recover and be able to live a normal adult life, but there is no guarantee of this. Government assistance, including the Medicaid Waiver Program, greatly helps pay for Kayla’s care. Whatever happens, they want to make sure that Kayla does not lose her eligibility for government assistance at any time in the future.

Arturo and Alyssa trust both Brenda and Bob. They want them to serve as trustees of any trust that you will draft for them. However, they also think that a third person should also be a trustee to make sure that there is a third person to mediate any potential dispute between the children. Both clients think that Alyssa’s brother, Aaron Abernacky, would be suited to this task. Since Aaron is 68 years old and so may not be able to assist forever, they also want Arturo’s niece, Shana Lane, as the backup co-trustee.

The primary purpose of their visit is to ensure that they become eligible for Medicaid assistance as soon as possible. The clients realize that, while they are now comparatively young, they may reach a time that they will need long term care Medicaid assistance and they do not want their assets to be depleted paying for such care. They want their assets preserved for their children and grandchildren.

Arturo and Alyssa own the following assets:

A single family residence in Camden, New Jersey. They purchased the residence in 1983 for $165,000. It now has an estimated fair market value of $700,000. They have no immediate plans to sell the house, but in the long term they are considering selling and moving to a warmer climate.

Brokerage accounts that include a portfolio of stocks, bonds, and cash worth approximately $400,000.

Individual retirement accounts (one owned by each spouse), each worth about $125,000.

A small checking account that they use for day-to-day expenses.

Of these, they want to transfer the first two to the trust. They do not want to withdraw (and thus be taxed on) their retirement account assets and so they cannot be placed into the trust.

Although the primary purpose of the trust should be for Medicaid planning purposes, it is also worthwhile to draft the trust in a manner that limits or eliminates the imposition of the New Jersey state estate tax (which is assessed on taxable estates above $675,000). You should also take into account capital gains tax implications in the event that the house and/or stocks are sold during the clients’ lifetimes or after their deaths.

Please draft a trust for the Abernacky couple. Please try to keep all relevant Medicaid and benefits eligibility requirements in mind, along with all relevant tax consequences of the trust.

leadership Role

Having a Public Health Leadership Theory is essential to any public health leader. With a well-constructed theory, you integrate leadership perspectives into practice in order to offer solutions to public health problems. Also, with a visual representation of your theory, you may present another way to highlight your research with effective design and theory implementation.

For this Project Assignment, you complete another part of your Public Health Leadership Theory based upon your understanding of leadership perspectives you have reviewed in this course. In addition, you must use a systems thinking approach in the development of your visual representation of your personal Public Health Leadership Theory. As you post your visual representation, you may find using a computer scanner helpful in scanning your image and attaching it to your post.

The Assignment (4–5 pages):

This week you will provide a visual representation of your public health leadership theory. It can be a table, schematic diagram, graph, or any other representation you choose. Please feel free to be creative. However, the focus MUST be on leadership. Be sure to provide a narrative explanation that shows how the developed theory can close the “gap” identified in the first part of the project. Additionally explain how it incorporates system thinking. Remember your theory can be based on those that we have learned about or your own. There is no wrong theory. What matters is the explanation of how it addresses the gap and uses system thinking. While this doesn’t have to be addressed now, keep in mind the last part of the project will involve presenting a methodology that tests the developed theory empirically.

Support your Project with specific references to all resources and current literature used in its preparation. You are to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.
